Every EPA 608 exam — Type I, Type II, Type III, and Universal — includes 25 Core questions, plus 25 questions for the type you're taking. This is how the current structure works.
Core covers the fundamentals that apply to all refrigerant work (regulations, safety, recovery basics). The EPA requires you to pass Core as part of every type exam, so it appears every time even if you've passed it before.
⚠️ Good to know: Passing Core in one exam does not carry it over to another type. Each EPA 608 exam is scored on its own, so Core is always included.
