The Tech Builder Program is a structured training pathway designed to build job-ready technicians from the ground up. It is ideal for learners with little to no prior trade experience and provides a clear, level-based progression across core trades.

Trades Included in Tech Builder

Tech Builder offers full curricula in the following trades:

  • HVAC

  • Electrical

  • Plumbing

Each trade follows the same structured learning model.

How the Tech Builder Program Works

Level-Based Progression

Each trade is divided into four levels, with each level building on the previous one.

Level 1 – Foundational
Introduces safety, tools, materials, and basic concepts needed to start a trade career.

Level 2 – The Basics
Covers entry-level tasks, workflows, and real-world activities new technicians encounter on the job.

Level 3 – Troubleshooting & Repair
Focuses on diagnosing issues and performing repairs using previously learned concepts.

Level 4 – Complex & Advanced Systems
Introduces advanced systems, deeper diagnostics, and higher-level troubleshooting.

Learners always begin at Level 1 and progress sequentially.

Curriculum Structure (What’s Inside Each Level)

Each level includes two required components:

1. E-Learning Curriculum

Self-paced learning that includes:

  • Reading assignments

  • Videos

  • Knowledge checks

  • Scenarios

  • Quizzes

All e-learning content must be completed before level completion.

2. Skills Curriculum (Hands-On)

Practical, hands-on skills that learners must demonstrate.

  • Skills are completed alongside e-learning

  • Skills must be verified and approved by a Training Leader

  • Skills approval is required to fully complete a level

Progression & Training Leader Approval

Progress Check Course

At the end of every level, learners must complete a Progress Check.

This includes:

  • A review of completed coursework

  • Skills verification

  • A discussion between the learner and Training Leader

Advancement to the next level is locked until the Training Leader approves the Progress Check.

This applies to every level, including Level 4.

Courses, Quizzes & Level Tests

Courses

Each level contains multiple courses.
A course is considered complete only when all lessons inside it are completed.

  • A blue checkmark indicates course completion

Quizzes & Level Tests

  • Quizzes and tests require 80% or higher to pass

  • Courses typically include short quizzes

  • Each level ends with a comprehensive test (~100 questions)

These assessments ensure learners retain knowledge before advancing.

Skills Assessments

  • Most courses include at least one corresponding skill

  • Skills appear as a Skills Assessment tile in the learner’s My Courses view

  • Learners are encouraged to work on skills in parallel with e-learning

  • Skills must be approved by a Training Leader before level completion

Expiration Dates & Due Dates

Expiration Dates (Enforced)

Expiration determines how long learners can access a level:

  • Levels 1–3: 3 months

  • Level 4: 4 months

    • Level 4 cannot be approved until all skills are completed

Due Dates (Suggested)

  • Due dates are guidance only and are not enforced

  • Tech Builder is flexible, but progression rules still apply

Example:
A learner may start Level 2 e-learning while finishing Level 1 skills.
However, Level 3 will remain locked until Level 1 skills are approved.

Content Retention Standards

Tech Builder is intentionally rigorous:

  • Frequent quizzes reinforce learning

  • Level tests confirm readiness before advancement

  • Ensures learners are prepared for real-world work, not just course completion
