The last strategy is one that most people do not do.
But it can be tremendous.
If a company is actually hiring, this is probably one of the best ways to give yourself a real shot at an interview.
Buy a box of donuts, get in your car, and drive to the company.
Walk in and say hello to the receptionist.
Say:
“Hey, my name is John. I’m looking for a job. I wanted to bring some donuts and drop off my resume.”
They will love you.
Everyone will love you.
And there’s a very good chance the person at the front desk is going to think:
“Wow, that was really nice.”
And then maybe they say:
“Come with me. Let me introduce you to the hiring manager.”
That’s exactly what you’re trying to accomplish.
You showed some positivity.
You showed some courtesy.
You showed your face.
You shook someone’s hand.
You walked in wearing nicely pressed clothes, looking professional, friendly, and eager.
And now you’re no longer another random name sitting in an online application system.
You’re a real person they met.
Most of the time, that gives you a much better chance of getting your foot in the door.
So if you don’t want to cold call, and you don’t want to cold email, buy some donuts and cold walk in.
That’s all.
It really is that simple.
