Under Section 608 of the Federal Clean Air Act, all technicians who maintain, service, repair, or dispose of equipment containing refrigerants must be EPA certified. This federal requirement ensures HVAC professionals can safely handle refrigerants and is mandatory for working in the HVAC industry.
Before you get started check-list:
Make sure you have a smart phone with a front-facing camera or selfie camera.
Ensure you have a stable internet connection to complete the exam.

How to get EPA 608 certified with SkillCat

3. Take the exam on your phone
The EPA 608 exam is available 24/7, allowing flexibility in scheduling.
Scroll down on the course program and you will see the "Exam" module. Click on that and you are ready to take the exam.
The exam is proctored online (so make sure you have a picture of your Photo ID handy as the exam will ask you for that) and on-demand, so you don’t need to visit a test center.
4. Exam Attempts
You will get 4 attempts to pass the exam
In case you exhaust the attempts, you will need to complete the entire training completely and once done you can reach out to [email protected] to request more attempts
Results
Get your results instantly on if you passed or failed
Once you pass the exam, please wait 1-2 days for the proctor to review your attempt
Once reviewed, you will get an email regarding an update on your proctoring.
How to get your certificate:
You can download and share your certification through the SkillCat app.
Your certification is valid for life and does not require renewal.
