At SkillCat, billing is based on the number of active seats in your account and the plan you’ve selected—monthly or yearly. You’re charged per seat at the beginning of each billing cycle, and any seat changes made during that cycle will follow our prorated billing logic and be billed separately.
A reminder that a seat and user are different, with SkillCat you are able to change what user is using that seat at any point in time within your billing period.
Important note: Once your billing cycle begins, the number of seats you’re billed for is locked in for that cycle. This means removing a user mid-cycle will not result in a refund or credit, but you can still reassign that seat to another employee. Any seat reductions will take effect in your next billing cycle.
Below, we’ve broken down how proration works for both monthly and annual plans to help you manage your team and budget with confidence.
Example:
You start your dashboard on January 1, 2025 with 10 seats at $30 per user/month.
You are charged $300 at the time of purchase.
What happens when you add a seat mid-month:
If you add an 11th seat halfway through the month, you’ll be charged $15 immediately.
Your new seat total is 11, and your next month’s invoice will be $330.
ℹ️ Prorated amounts are determined by number of days used
What happens when you remove a seat mid-month:
If you remove a seat three days into the next billing cycle, you will still be charged $330 for that month.
No credit will be issued for early seat removal.
You can continue using that removed seat for the remainder of the month or reassign it to another user.
If the seat is not filled, your next invoice will reflect 10 seats ($300).
