Getting Started with the SkillCat App

Welcome to SkillCat. You can train for your trade right from your phone, at your own pace. This guide walks you through downloading the app, logging in, finding your way around, and switching the app to Spanish.

What you'll need

A smartphone or tablet (iPhone, iPad, or Android) and a few minutes to get set up. SkillCat is free to download, and you can start with a free trial before subscribing.

01 Download the app

Grab SkillCat from your device's app store:

iPhone or iPad: get it on the App Store.

Android: get it on Google Play.

Search "SkillCat" if the links don't open directly, then tap 'Get' or 'Install'. The app is free to download, with a free trial and a monthly subscription after that. (See how to subscribe to SkillCat)

02 Log in or create your account

Open the app and sign in with your email and password, or create a new account to get started. If your employer set you up with SkillCat, use the email and password they sent you.

Forgot your password? No problem. Follow these steps to reset it. You can also log in from any browser at skillcat.app.

03 Explore the app

Here's how to find your way around once you're in:

Home tab: browse the available programs or use the search bar to find a specific one, then tap Start to begin. Anything you've already started shows up under "Continue Training" so you can pick up right where you left off.
Explore tab: see projects fellow SkillCat members are working on and chat with fellow members about job searches.
Portfolio tab: Create a portfolio with the work you've completed and the course completions. See all your certs and badges in one place.
Settings tab: tap the gear icon in the top-right of the Home tab to manage your account and preferences.

04 Switch to Spanish (Cambiar la aplicación a español)

Prefer to train in Spanish? You can switch the whole app, including exams, in a few taps:

Open the SkillCat app.
Tap the gear icon in the top-right corner of the Home tab.
Find the dropdown next to your name (it will say "English").
Tap the down arrow and select Spanish.

Your training and exams will now be in Spanish.
